F.Whitlock & Sons have been around since 1877. The same year the Wimbledon tennis tournament kicked off, Thomas Edison announced his “talking machine” invention (the phonograph), and England’s Queen Victoria was proclaimed Empress of India.
Fred Whitlock was a real man; beard down to his chest, hunted for his own meat and made his own moonshine. He was also a dab hand at making relish, sauces and pickles.
As any good kiwi entrepreneur does, Fred started his business in his back yard; making sauces and condiments for the local market which quickly evolved to a larger scale. While his business grew, the basic recipes remained the same. Today, that entrepreneurial spirit continues with the brand, and executing great flavours is still the name of our game.

The secret of F.Whitlock & Sons flavoursome sauces and condiments is simple - we take the same care that Fred Whitlock did when he first made F.Whitlock & Sons sauce in 1877, using only the freshest ingredients and the finest spices.
Today, F.Whitlock & Sons Tomato Chutney Sauce is still made to the original recipe. It's a traditional thick and rich flavoured sauce that's been a kiwi favourite for generations. The F.Whitlock & Sons range of sauces also includes the other traditional favourites Mint and Worcester Sauce.
